About Lighthouse
Healthier responders. Healthier communities.
Our story
We’ve built apps for public safety since 2011. Lighthouse grew out of work with the 100 Club of Arizona in 2018, building tools to connect Arizona first responders confidentially and anonymously to wellness resources. I knew the work was hard. The weight of it didn’t land until we announced the project and chiefs were walking up to the 100 Club to thank them, visibly moved, because the need was so real.
What caught us off guard was how little existed on the other end of that connection. Agencies didn’t just need a referral. They were trying to figure out what to do at all, and people who understood the culture were hard to find. Most were doing their best with almost nothing to work from.
So we kept building. Wellness looks different in every agency and for every person in it, so we build tools and support that help each one find what it can be, and keep it going.

What we’ve learned
Through this work I’ve come to think of first responders as a fast-forward version of what’s happening across society. We call it the Responder Mirror Theory: what happens to responders, mentally, physically and emotionally, reflects what is beginning to happen to all of us.
It led to a second idea, the Accelerated Stress Model. Responders live in compressed environments where stress builds fast and the physical effects show up in weeks and months, not years. At the same time, the pace of life is speeding up for everyone. Constant connection and stimulation create the same conditions: high input, low recovery and relentless demand.
Responder wellness will always be at the center of what we do. The lessons don’t stay inside police departments and firehouses, though. They reach families, schools, workplaces and whole communities.
